BISHOP COMES TO EASINGWOLD!

Easingwold Parish Church had a special visitor last Sunday – the Right Reverend Martin Wallace, Bishop of Selby, who had come to confirm candidates from Husthwaite, from Thormanby and from Easingwold into the Anglican Church.Bishop Martin led a very informal, friendly and inspiring service with the theme of “Stepping out in Faith”, starting by presenting the candidates for confirmation with candles inscribed with this message.After a short address, he led the candidates through the stages of Presentation, Decision, Profession of Faith (at the font), before returning to the chancel steps for the Confirmation and Commission.  Some of the candidates read the Lessons and the Prayers of Intercession.The service then continued with Holy Communion, the newly-confirmed communicants receiving first.At the end of the service, the Bishop led the new communicants out of the church, to emphasise the message of going out into the world and again: “Stepping out in Faith”.Our picture shows the Bishop and John Harrison, vicar of Easingwold, with the new communicants
