Canadians Remembered at East Moor
Last Saturday afternoon a service of remembrance was held in Sutton-on-the-Forest to mark the sacrifice made by Canadian aircrews during the Second World War. The ceremony took place at the Sundial Memorial on East Moor, one of the airfields in the York area from which Canadian airmen operated, and was attended by members of the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Royal Air Force Association and the Air Training Corps. Also present were Colonel CS Henneberry of the RCAF and Doug Sample, a veteran Canadian air gunner. Prayers were led by Rev Chris Ellis and the service closed with the playing of the Last Post, a minute’s silence and the laying of memorial wreaths. Full Article Archived News View All...
