Dales Camp or was it “Gales” Camp?
Last month 40 guides and their leaders from Easingwold and Thirsk joined over 200 other Guides from the County for a week’s activity camp in the dales.Gale force winds land heavy rain didn’t dampen the spirits, although it did destroy a few tents!Some girls managed to go sailing and rafting before the weather took hold, but others had the chance to enjoy archery, shooting, pioneering, crafts and circus skills. There were visits to the Forbidden Corner, swimming and bowling. The whole camp visited Lightwatervalley for a day.Evenings were filled with a barn dance, talent show, camp fires and a fireworks display.An enjoyable if not tiring week was had by all!With the Guiding centenary just two years away and lots of events already being planned including the World Camp in North Yorkshire, watch this space for all the other opportunities being given to our members!
