Easi Awards!

On a cold wet summers day (well, what other sort of summer day is there in Yorkshire?) at the end of August, a selective guest list gathered to celebrate Easi’s incredibly successful first year with a party and awards ceremony. This being a Yorkshire club the rain failed to put a dampener on proceedings with the players still taking the plunge into an outdoor pool prior to the awards presentations which, fortunately, were to take place under cover. So what has happened to Easi this year to make it so successful?  In the first place a number of Easi players have found themselves on the England program; the club featured on a BBC Breakfast report about Rock-It-Ball; Easi supplied a number of players for Easingwold School to win the first inter-schools Rock-It-Ball tournament; the club has been invited to play an exhibition match at the first World Record attempt and, the highlight of the year, Easi-RockIts dominated the first league with HellFighters coming second and HellCats winning the League in style with a 100% record. There is much to celebrate for Easi and the coaching staff admitted to finding it difficult to finalise the awards but in the end they went to• Adam Rawcliffe as Player of the Year;• Jonathon Cooper as Players’ Player of the Year ;• James Nelson as Most Improved Player.• Callum Watt received the Hildreth Trophy for the impact he made on the team as a recent member of the club• Chloe Mitchell won the Coaches’ Award for her commitment and • Lucie Everard received the Teesside and Cleveland Trophies Salver for services to the club.Having got the first year under their belts Easi move into their second year with confidence and look forward to welcoming new members to their ranks.  Sessions take place in term times on Monday evenings at Easingwold School with Junior sessions running from 6pm to 7 pm and seniors from 7pm to 9pm.Coach, Paul Hildreth, said: “I’ve said on many occasions just how proud I am of these guys.  They have done amazingly well this year.  Rock-It-Ball is now the fastest-growing sport in the world as it spreads rapidly through loads of countries and Easi-RockIts are leading the way.  We are very keen to welcome lots more people into Easi so that we can continue to grow the club.”
