Easingwold & District U3A 10th Anniversary Celebration
On Tuesday 17th April 2012 the Easingwold & District U3A celebrated their 10th anniversary with a display of the various group activities in the Galtres Centre. A large number of members attended to see the various excellent group displays which were a testament to the endeavours of the group leaders and their teams.Chair Peter Glossop welcomed everyone to the celebration gathering and read the congratulations from the National President for the success of the Easingwold & District U3A over the past 10 years since its formation. Thanking the founding committee as “the Pioneers” for their initiation of the local U3A he then asked them to gather around the celebratory cake which was cut by the newly announced President elect Ron Minty. The hard work of the pioneers, John and Nancy Kilburn, Ron Minty, Ruth Whillock, Peter Wells, Audrey Freeborn, Sheila Wright and Brenda Millburn has ensured that a local organisation could grow and prosper whilst providing a much enjoyed opportunity for interests and learning for the over 50’s.The strength of each local U3A is that they each decide what it would like to do and how to arrange this. Thanks to the Easingwold pioneers this has been achieved with great success and benefit to many local members.Well done to all present and past members of Easingwold and District U3A and an invitation to new members to come and join in.
