Easingwold Town Girls

An excellent performance saw Easingwold Towns’ Girls U15 side record their second league win of the season on Saturday defeating league newcomers Kirkbymoorside 2-1.It was a frantic opening five minutes with both sides finding the back of the net. Jo Cook opened the scoring for Easingwold when she picked up a loose ball and raced forward to finish off with a fine left footed shot into the goal. The visitors then equalised when the home side failed to clear a corner three minutes later. Easingwold then settled and started to dominate the possession. It wasn’t long before Emma Cockerill restored ‘Towns lead when she dispossessed a Kirkby defender and neatly struck the ball home. Becky Cattley then had a long range shot well saved and Jo saw her curling shot narrowly miss following a great ball from Jess Frith. Emma again was denied by the ’keeper as half time approached with Easingwold looking the better side.The second half saw the visitors come out with all guns blazing, and Easingwold’s defence of Becky, Jo and Helen Flemming were all put under increased pressure. Easingwold managed to stand firm and continued to create chances at the other end with Emma and Jess both having shots cleared off the line. Emily Jordan then had a chance to make the game safe, but she saw her shot clear the upright having been put clean through by Jo. At the final whistle, the girls had held out and deserved their well earned victory. They will now look forward to next Saturday when they travel to Tockwith.
