Family Fun!

On Sunday, September 14th 2008, the first of what will hopefully be many Tollerton Family Bike Rides took place. Under a clear blue sky and radiant sun, participants of all ages registered at the Village Green, paid their entrance fees and collected their route maps. The bike ride consisted of two possible routes: a short route of eight miles, or a slightly longer route of ten miles, both passing through Tollerton’s picturesque surrounding countryside and local villages. Armed with their water bottles and maps, the families set off at 2pm.For added entertainment, the family bike ride also doubled up as a family quiz, with a series of twelve cryptic questions and clues to find and answer along the way.An hour and a half later, the participants could be found celebrating together with tea and homemade cake in the Village Hall, the youngsters, impressively, with still enough energy to play together happily. The money raised from the Family Bike Ride will go to the fund to re-roof the Tollerton Village Hall. In the past, fundraising for the hall has been very successful, as can been seen from the recent completion of the new toilet facilities. Thankfully, the Tollerton Family Bike Ride fundraiser has been no different. Grateful appreciation from the Tollerton Village Hall Committee to all those involved in the organisation and to all the participating families.
