Hats off to Huby School’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration
Huby CE Primary School celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a Royal style garden party. The children were all dressed in red, white and blue and were adorned in their own creatively designed hats. The afternoon started with a whole school parade to enable Prof & Mrs Darnell to judge the hats on innovation and effort. Union Flag mugs and balls were given as prizes for the winning entrants. The light showers didn’t dampen the spirits and traditional races of egg and spoon, beanbags and sack races were competitively run. In true garden party style, guests and children enjoyed tea and Jubilee decorated buns, whilst listening to children play their many musical instruments. To mark the event Hannah Elliot and Maisie Brough, the oldest and youngest pupils in the school, planted an oak tree. Huby Parish Council had kindly donated commemorative coins enabling every child to have a keepsake of the special day. These were handed out by Mrs Howland, Mrs Birkinshaw, Mrs Appleby and Mrs Douglas who have all had many years of links with the school. The celebratory afternoon was superbly finished off with the singing of The Diamond Jubilee song and The National Anthem. Full Article Archived News View All...
