Interim head teacher praises achievements of Easingwold School sixth formers

Easingwold School’s outgoing interim head teacher, Geoff Jenkinson, has paid tribute to the achievements of the school’s Year 13 students as they celebrated an excellent set of A level results. “When I joined the school in February, I saw immediately what potential these students have,” he said. “I am delighted that students across the range of ability have made such good progress and that the vast majority are now able to take the next important step in their careers. These results are a testament to the commitment and hard work of students and staff, and the support of parents.”This year saw particular success for students who intend to study science and engineering at university, with several set to join Russell Group universities, including Oxford. They include Caitlin Armstrong of York who will read chemistry at Oxford University after gaining an A* and two A grades, Tom Emmens who achieved two A* grades and an A and will study physics at Edinburgh University, and Harriet Flynn who will read biochemistry at Nottingham University after gaining an A* and two A grades.The overall A level pass rate was 99% and nearly half of the total A level entries gained the top grades - A*, A or B.  Ten students (11% of the A level cohort) achieved straight A* or A grades. 21 subjects had a pass rate of 100%. In addition five students have achieved the International Baccalaureate Diploma with an average score of 30 out of a possible 45, equivalent to 2 A grades and a B at A level plus a B at AS level. Particular successes included Natalie Jones who achieved 37 points and has won a place to study history at the University of St. Andrews.Other notable achievements include:• Rebecca Chubb who gained three A grades at A level and a B at AS level and will read nursing at Leeds University;• Emma Durkin who has won a place at Sheffield Hallam University to study food marketing management after achieving one A* and two A grades;• Tom Frane, who achieved one A* and two A grades at A level and one A grade at AS level and will study geology at Liverpool University;• Alex Frusher who gained two A grades and a B and will read engineering at either Bristol or Durham University;• Katie Gascoyne who has won a place to read law at the University of East Anglia after gaining two A grades and a B at A level and an A at AS level;• William Marrows who gained an A* and two A grades at A level and a further A at AS level;• Rory McMillan who achieved three A grades and will study geology at Manchester University;• Rebecca Thomas who has also won a place at Manchester University after achieving an A* and two A grades;• James Wilson who intends to study medicine after gaining an A* and two A grades at A level and an A at AS level.Easingwold School A level Results 2012C Armstrong (3 +1AS), S Ash (3 +1AS), D Barker (3),  E Binnersley (3), J Bishop (3 +1AS),  K Bower (3), M Boyes-Major (1 +1AS), E Bramall (3 +1AS),  N Campion (2 +1AS), M Cattley (3 +1AS),  R Caygill (3 +1AS), R Chubb (3 +1AS), L Clarke (4),  H Cleaton (2 +2AS), C Clint (3),  C Cooper (3 +1AS), N Craggs (3), A Craig (3 +1AS),  I Dalton (2), E Durkin (3 +1AS),  R Dutton (3 +1AS), R Eddington (3 +2AS), R Elliott (3 +1AS),  T Emmens (3 +1AS), S Flanagan (2 +1AS),  H Flynn (3 +1AS), A Ford (3), M Forrester (3 +1AS),  E Fox (2 +2AS), T Frane (3 +1AS),  A Frusher (3 +1AS), K Gascoyne (3 +1AS), H Gibson (3 +1AS),  A Golding (2), R Gordon (3 +1AS),  A Hancock (3 +1AS), V Harris (3 +1AS), R Haw (3 +1AS),  T Hildrick (3 +1AS), E Hodgson (3 +1AS),  S Holt (2), S Holyoake (3 +1AS), G Hood (3 +1AS),  D Howlett (3 +1AS), M Jackson (2 +1AS),  A Jebb (4), A Jobbins (3), O Johnson (3),  M Kent (3), J Kinsella (3),  M Kyte (2 +1AS), J Leech (3 +1AS), A Long (2 +1AS),  J Macaulay (3 +1AS), R March (2 +1AS),  W Marrows (3 +1AS), R Matkin (3 +1AS), D McCaffrey (3),  R McMillan (3 +1AS), J Mccandless (2 +1AS),  A Metcalfe (2 +1AS), D Mitchinson (3), N Mortimer (2 +1AS),  C Munro (3), E Nabbs (3 +1AS),  M Nice (2 +1AS), C Oldfield (3), H Parvin (3),  L Pipes (2 +2AS), D Pulleyn (3),  D Raper (3 +1AS), L Rees-Hughes (3 +1AS), H Reeve (3 +1AS),  N Robertson (2 +1AS), A Ruddock (3),  M Scaife-addinall (3 +1AS), H Scarce (3 +1AS), E Sharp (3 +1AS),  A Shields (3), F Skinner (2 +2AS),  J Smith (3 +1AS), O Snook (3), G Sommerville (3 +1AS),  S Sparrow (3 +1AS), K Spencer (3 +1AS),  B Stephenson (3 +1AS), O Stirk (2 +2AS), A Sugden (3 +1AS),  O Swiers (3), R Thomas (3 +1AS),  A Townend (1 +2AS), J Wilson (3 +1AS), L Wilson (3 +1AS),  D Woodall (3)Easingwold School AS level Results 2012J Andrews (2), V Atlay (4), O Attwooll (4), O Beagley (4), L Beckington (3), A Beedle (4), I Bell (3), E Bellamy-Sinclair (4), L Benson (2), C Bishop (4), E Bower (4), R Boyes-Major (2), D Bradley (1), F Brewer (4), H Burch (2), C Burton (3), A Carter (1), A Child (4), E Clarke (3), E Clarke (3), S Clint (1), E Cockerill (4), Z Collins (3), S Cooper (3), C Cotton (4), L Cox (4), I Crawford-Topp (3), S Cummins (4), T Curtis (4), M Dixon (3), O Dobson (2), J Dowson (3), H Dunford (4), H Elliott (3), C Emsley-Gray (3), T Forde (2), K Fowell (3), R Galtrey (3), D Garner (4), O Gillam (4), E Hake (4), C Heartshorne (4), K Hogg (4), E Hughes (4), A Jackson (3), E Jeffrey (4), E Johnson (4), N Keighley (4), A Kirkbride (3), A Knott (4), C Lambert (3), A Low (2), B Mccandless (2), A Merritt (4), D Murphy (4), T Neal (4), C Newton (4), E North (3), J Owen (2), A Patterson (4), A Pemberton (3), B Pemberton (4), L Piercy (2), J Pinder (1), E Robinson (2), S Robinson (2), A Sheppard (2), R Shipley (4), T Shipley (4), J Sigsworth (4), D Smith (4), J Snowball (2), S Snowdon (2), L Soper (4), A Temlett (2), B Tranter (2), G Tubb (4), N Van Zijl (3), R Wade (4), D Waite (3), L Walker (4), K Webster (3), M Whitehead (4), H Williams (4), M Wintermeyer (4)
