Jubilee fever helps raise £2400 for Yorkshire Cancer Research
One of the first Queen’s Diamond Jubilee inspired events in Easingwold took place on Wednesday 23rd May when the Galtres Committee of Yorkshire Cancer Research held their annual ‘Lite Bite Lunch’ and plant sale at Snowfield Farm Alne, kindly hosted once again by Mr & Mrs P Stirke.There was a mass of patriotic colour.Union Jacks popped up amongst the flowers and shrubs in the immaculate borders, the marquee was decked out with red, white and blue bunting and tables were decorated with Union Jack napkins and cloths and jugs of appropriately coloured flowers.Over 120 people attended the event enjoying the sunshine along with a glass of rosé to accompany what do you think? ....... Coronation Chicken with salads for lunch! This was followed by coffee accompanied by homemade cakes for which the committee are renowned.Ticket sales, plant sales, the cake stall and raffle raised the fantastic sum of £2,400 which will go towards funding the vital programmes set up by Yorkshire Cancer Research specifically in Yorkshire based hospitals and universities working towards finding cures for the different forms of the disease which so many of us are touched by.
