Local Player selected for County Honours

Oliver Snook, currently in Year 10 at Easingwold School, has capped a hugely successful year by being selected for North Yorkshire U15s. Oliver, who has been selected to play Fly-half, plays his club rugby at York RUFC where he is currently in his 10th season.He was picked from 120 lads who were all nominated by either their Club or School and had to go through an arduous selection process held at St. Peter’s School in York at the end of September. Next stop is a series of training camps at Ripon Rugby Club over the half term break followed by a full Yorkshire county trial with the opportunity to be selected for the Leeds Carnegie Academy – one of just 12 professional academies in England. After Christmas, and after a number of other training sessions, the North Yorkshire team will play the other Yorkshire Ridings and other counties from the north of England.Oliver, pictured on the left, is seen holding the winning trophy from York’s recent successful trip to Italy where they played and won two matches, one in Turin the other in Chieri. Also pictured is Evan Sleeman, also in Year 10 at Easingwold School, holding the North Yorkshire County Cup won by the York Team at the end of last season and which they start the defence of in November. Evan has also capped a successful U14 season by being selected for Hambleton and Richmond Schools.
