Raskelf Tennis Club cup success

Raskelf Tennis Club was guaranteed a triumph in the Anne Brotherton Cup 2008 when two doubles teams from the club reached the final on Sunday, 3rd August.Sally Banks and Tom Craggs emerged victorious against Andrew Corner and Alex Jones in a closely fought clash that provided the perfect conclusion to a very successful tournament.Teams from Raskelf, Hovingham and Alne took part in the Cup and the round robin format ensured each mixed doubles team had a crack at reaching the final. Eventually the two Raskelf teams won through with Corner and Jones moving into a two games lead only for Banks and Craggs to make a late bid for glory. Ian Elsworth, Chairman of Raskelf Tennis Club said “We were delighted to host the tournament and thrilled to have provided both finalists at the end of an excellent day's tennis. Thank you to the organisers and all the competitors who took part.”
