STILLINGTON LADIES HOCKEY CLUB

JOHN SMITHS RALLYSUNDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER AT STILLINGTON S&SCThe 3rd Annual rally sponsored by John Smiths & organised by Stillington Ladies Hockey club was again very well supported with all the teams in the league competing. The weather made sure everyone was in good spirits and the matches were strongly competed.  Stillington Ladies had a strong squad and they managed to win, draw & lose. Sadly, this wasn’t enough to reach the final.   Dunnington & Olympics battled it out in the final. It was very equally matched and the final whistle blew at 1-1. Penalty flicks were going to be the deciding factor and even though the Dunnington stand-in goalkeeper made some great saves, Olympics took the trophy with some great flicks. SUNDAY 5TH OCTOBER - AGAINST DUNNINGTONStillington Ladies started their season as they would hope to carry on with a good win over Dunnington. (2-1)Stillington were attacking from the first whistle and had plenty of chances on goal, defended well by the opposition.  The new format worked well and the defence were strong when needed. The first goal came from Lisa Harrison who made a great strike from a excellent placed cross by Abi.After half time, Dunnington came back strongly and the defence from Stillington held on. Their temporary goalkeeper, Juliet, made some strong saves in a position she is not used to. If there is any goalies who would like to have a game on a Sunday please get in touch with us at stillingtonlhc@hotmail.co.ukThe 2nd goal came off a strong strike from Rosie Hudson and was deflected in off the line by Diane Birkley, putting Stillington 2-0 up. Dunnington carried on attacking and when Stillington were tiring they managed to get a good goal from the sides. Stillington were a satisfied team when the final whistle blew. The Stillington Match player & Players Player was chosen as Katie Bell, who had an excellent game on the right wing. Our next match is Sunday 12th October away at Malton.
