Stillington Tennis Club Singles Finals 2008

The final mixed league match of the season was played late in August at Copmanthorpe with the help of floodlights. The 1st and 2nd teams will remain in their respective 2nd & 4th divisions whilst the 3rd team will probably go down to division 11. Club teams have included newcomers ranging from school teenagers to the more mature 50+s. Sadly past club and team players, John and Jean Dougherty, have both died this year. They were instrumental in progressively moving the 2nd team up from the lower divisions to where it is today.The Club men’s and ladies’ singles tennis tournaments were played on Sunday 7th September. Youth won the day in the ladies, with Roz Madgewick beating her three opponents in a round robin competition.Whilst in the men's, Tim Madgwick had a close final short set against David Phillips after all particpants had played 3 matches within their own group.
