The York Leek Club Annual Show 2008

Saturday 6th September saw the Annual Leek Club Flower and Vegetable Show. We were blessed with good weather and saw 17 members showing pot leeks. The quality was not as high as in previous years due to the poor weather i.e. rain during the growing season. A record entry of 98 exhibits in various classes of the flower and vegetable section of the show with some very high quality produce shown.The results of the show are as follows: Leek SectionBest Pair of Pot Leeks – Keith WatsonRunner Up – Barry Dalton3rd Place – Richard SwalesBest Leek in Show – Keith WatsonLadies Prize – Sue WrightTried Hard Trophy – Ken WilsonFlower and Vegetable SectionBell and Simpson Trophy – Tom Marwood(Most points in vegetable show) 58 pointsGlen Kersley Trophy – Barry Dalton(Runner up to the above) 15 pointsThe Jim Ward Memorial Trophy – Keith Watson(Super Pot Leek over 6 inches)An enjoyable evening followed the show with presentation of prizes, auction of produce and a grand raffle.
