Easingwold and District Lions visited Sutton on the Forest Primary School to present a batch of litter pickers to the children as part of their environment project.
Lions president John Sutherland was accompanied by a number of members and Leo the Lion. Leo was keen to tell the children about how collecting up litter and disposing of it properly saved him and all of his animal friends from becoming ill from eating the discarded litter.
John said: “it’s encouraging, when listening to the children to hear how aware they are about the need to look after our environment”.
The Lions internationally are committed to improving the Environment, Education and Youth services. Therefore, this project at Sutton on the Forest School fitted in well with Easingwold District Lions overall aims.
Easingwold and District Lions are also pleased to announce that they are making available ten grants of up to £500 to chosen worthy causes. These include volunteer groups and individuals, child services, schools and many more.
The purpose of the grant is to assist in the provision of community services, purchase or replace much needed equipment, sports kits, special needs groups, community based projects, child nurseries etc. In fact, the Lions will consider a wide range of applications that needs an injection of up to £500.
