A Hidden Gem Revealed: Easingwold & District U3a Visit To The Bar Convent...

January saw the u3a History and Visiting Churches Groups set off on its first outing of 2026, with fourteen members travelling by bus from Easingwold to York for a fascinating visit to the Bar Convent.

Despite being just a short walk from York railway station, the Bar Convent remains surprisingly little known, even to regular visitors to the city.

Our group was genuinely taken aback by the richness of its story and the importance of what lies behind its modest exterior.
