Lashings World XI visit Easingwold Cricket Club ...

Members of the Lashings World XI team gave the Easingwold Cricket Club wonderful day to remember! Friday 18 July 2025 will go down in the annals of Easingwold CC as a highlight in the history of the club.

Famous ex test cricketers – Sir Curtley Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, Chris Schofield, Martin Bicknell, Anya Shrubsole, Yasir Arafat – graced the Back Lane ground.

The T20 match got underway with Elliot Skilbeck one of our under 9 players opening the bowling finishing his stint with 0.3 overs for no runs!

Lashings batted and scored 187 – 5 with skipper Chris Schofield top scoring with 64 and Jack Redshaw taking 3 wickets.

Easingwold followed with 144 – 6, Jack Redshaw starring again with 38 with South African Jacques Snyman taking 2 wickets.

Good performances from many but the cricketing highlight was a brilliant catch by Ethan Caisley and ECC 1st XI player who caught Kirk Edwards off Jack Redshaw’s bowling.

The day was, however, for the Easingwold community.

The test players coached the junior players and everyone enjoyed a fantastic marquee lunch. There were 170 guests for the meal, with all the food sourced locally. Around 250 local residents visiting the ground with many saying it was their first visit to ECC.

The hosts also put on games for everyone, with the highlight being the children from Live Wires nursery enjoying the Bouncy Castle with 6’ tall cricketers.
