Saturday 23rd August, 2025

The cadets of Easingwold ATC often get a chance to show what they do at a variety of events in and around Easingwold, and further afield.

The year kicked off with an annual event, held in February, to mark the formation of the ATC.

The ATC Sunday Parade was held in Tadcaster, with Sgt S Bennett and Sgt J Fensome carry the Sqn and ATC banners ahead of the Easingwold contingent.

In April the Cadets and Staff attended the unveiling of a Memorial to the crew of an aircraft (Halifax MZ538) which crashed in December 1944, with the loss of the whole crew, at a site which adjoins the Alne Cricket Club.

Also in April, the Cadets initiated a Charity Football match against a rival unit (110 York) to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. They then presented a cheque for £705.80 to the YAA representative.

During May, Cadets attended the annual Eastmoor Memorial at Sutton-in-the-Forest, with representatives from the Canadian Air Force, the local Lions.

In June, it was fundraising time at the Alne Street Fayre, and another parade, this time for The King’s Birthday Salute, held in York Memorial Gardens, in attendance with the Lord Lieutenant for North Yorkshire. Photos show Sgt M Brown and, former Cadet, now Adult Staff Sgt A Lill.

July was Wing Competition Day, with drill, shooting, sport, first aid, aircraft recognition and aircraft model being judged with the rest of the cadets from the Central and East Yorkshire Wing.
