The Easingwold Advertiser & Weekly News is a family-owned paper for Easingwold and the surrounding area

Despite the winter chill, a good crowd assembled for the annual Crib Blessing service in Easingwold. The service took place on the Market Green last Friday, arranged by Christians Together Around Easingwold (CTAE, formerly CTED).

During the service, people kept warm by singing favourite carols, including: “Away in a Manger, “While Shepherds Watched” and “Little Donkey”. There was relief that the topically poignant “In the Bleak Midwinter” was not on the programme!

Guests were welcomed and the service was introduced by Alyson Christy, Lay Pastor from the Methodist Church, who led an opening prayer.

Extracts from St Luke’s Gospel about the birth of Jesus, the Shepherds and the Angels were read by pupils from the Mini-Leaders Group from Easingwold Community Primary School.

To find out more about the blessing, read the rest of this article by getting a copy of the paper from your nearest stockist.
