In the storms at the end of 2024 going into 2025 we had loads of frost and winds, and in one of those storms, the tree which was a healthy ornamental almond tree on our Church Close green, unexpectedly blew over and landed in the hedge and garden of number 19! The new owner later relayed his shock to me but he was super grateful that it missed his car.
The green remained an odd place for some time with a tree at 40 degrees slowly decomposing. No one seemed to know what to do and so it stayed that way for several weeks and we all got used to it.
In the Spring things changed, and the Parish Council organised the removal of the dead tree and all the associated branches and twig debris. It then became an empty space. No tree, just damp, mossy grass for a long time.
