The Sutton and Huby Gardening Club organised the Sutton Open Gardens in late May. Now that the bills are in, that the two-day event raised about £4,600 for national charities and good causes in both villages.
The Open Gardens have taken place every two years since the Millennium, with the 2021 event delayed until this year because of the pandemic.
The total going to charities and local good causes is now about £45,000 since the gardens started opening.
The Sutton and Huby Gardening Club divided £3,600 between the British Heart Foundation, Prostate Cancer UK and St Leonard’s Hospice in York. About another £1,000 went to local worthy causes in the two villages, schools, Scouts, Brownies, church and chapel, and playgroup.
