This bank holiday weekend saw the revival of an old pool tournament that remains very close to some people’s hearts.
Courtesy of Darren Teale and John Shepherd the Kevin Morley under 16’s pool trophy competition was played for by a number of youngsters last weekend.
Those who don’t know, Kevin Morley unfortunately lost his life before finishing secondary school in a tragic car accident.
The pool competition was set up in his memory in the 1980’s and was played for a number of years.
Unfortunately following refurbishments of Stillington sports club the original trophy(s) have gone missing but Darren and John were very keen to resurrect this competition as Kevin was a close friend.
We also received contact from Adam Lund who said that this was a competition he remembers entering as a young child and one that he remembers rushing from playing football to play in.
Adam Lund now plays for the England’s Men’s team and is also the current IPA European champion!
Friday evening saw the youngsters begin with Callum Magrath beating Conor Petch and Jack Baine beating Ben Dransfield.
Cohen Shepherd beat Seth Goodwin and Will Piercy beat Oli Shepherd both 3-0 in the quarter finals on Saturday evening.
