Easingwold Community Primary School Year 5/6 trip to Howsham Mill...

On Thursday 29th February, our class visited Howsham Mill near Malton. The aim was to conduct Geography fieldwork as part of our Rivers topic.

We had the exciting opportunity to stand on a viewing window directly above an enormous and very fast-moving water wheel.

We learnt all about the course of the River Derwent, features of the river and the wildlife that we might be lucky enough to spot.

We conducted an experiment to measure the velocity of the river at three chosen points, calculating the mean velocity and comparing the speeds.
