Apple Class at Crayke C of E Primary School recently enjoyed a stop food waste day and got stuck into their coronation preparations.
Did you know that on April 26th it was ‘Stop Food Waste Day’? The class were taught about how food is wasted and the impact that this has on the environment. They also learned that more and more people cannot afford to buy food, but that food banks are available for individuals who need them.
The class played a recycling game: sorting metals, plastics, paper and organic matter into the correct recycling bins. The children took home a sheet to encourage their families to be more aware of how we can all help reduce food waste.
They also started learning about the coronation. The class painted union jacks and made handprint crowns. Children took part in a coronation dough disco and have been learning coronation songs. Students also learned Queen Elizabeth and how long she reigned for.
