I was surprised at the numbers attending the Armistice Day (11th) and Remembrance Sunday (13th November), there seemed to be more than in recent years.
Whilst Armistice Day is usually a more low-key affair, it certainly has a different tone to Remembrance Day, with a Scottish Piper providing the audio backdrop and the names of the Easingwold fallen read aloud from WWI and WWII a very poignant remembrance.
Remembrance Sunday is more a grand affair with a Brass Band leading the parade of veterans, serving members of the armed forces, police, dignitaries, air-cadets, scouts, guides, brownies and cubs.
Plus, the hundreds if not thousands of spectators with the officiating members of all the local Easingwold Churches leading the proceedings.......
